HAL Airport, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
The country's first HeliTaxi service should begin soon, according to Thumby Aviation Private Ltd, which has been roped in to offer the shuttle service between heliports within in the city and KIA. the launch will take place in two months’ time. Since this announcement last month, a lot of work has been done. the necessary infrastructure was being built, which includes the development of a helipad at KIA.
In Bengaluru, there are around 90 rooftop helipads. However, only one helipad at the ITC Royal Gardenia, on Residency Road, has got the operational clearance from the civil aviation regulatory authorities. two Bell helicopters with the seating capacity of 6 to 13 passengers have been commissioned for the service. The fares for HeliTaxis would be similar to that of luxury taxi fare, which means that a one way trip from KIA to Electronics City is expected to be priced between Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000. If all goes well, in two months, the upwardly mobile folks of the city – especially those from the south side – will be able to hop on a chopper to get to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), saving valuable commute time.
