The city hosted its sixth edition of Japan Festival at Ahmedabad Management Association from 26th to 29th January. It showcased several flavors of daily life in the land of the rising sun. Yoshika Ito, consul general of Japan in Mumbai inaugurated the festival with Rohit Patel, Gujarat minister of state for industries as guest of honor.
Workshops for traditional Japanese Calligraphy - Shodo, Japanese home cooking, Karate learning workout and Origami were organized as part of the event. A few award-winning Japanese films were also screened along with a display of dolls. Shoko Ito, celebrated Japanese playwright, director and actor presented a special view of her solo theatrical performance.
That apart, an exhibition for dolls was also a part of the event. These dolls reflected the customs of Japan and possess regional attributes. Around 80 such dolls of various shapes and sizes and made of different materials were put on display at the exhibition.
The three-day manifesto witnessed a large crowd, eager and curious to know about the rich culture and heritage of the country. The event was held as means to strengthen Indo- Japan ties.
